“TEACHING HIS DISCIPLES TO ACT”
EXPERIENCING UNUSUAL MIRACLES : Learning from the
Miracle of the Five Loaves and Two Fish
Part 3 of 3
“Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and
looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples
to set before the multitude.” (Luke 9:16, NKJV)
After giving
thanks (say a blessing), the Lord Jesus broke the loaves and gave them to His
disciples to set before the multitude.
Look how amazing
our Lord Jesus is. HE involved His disciples in revealing His miracle. The Lord
Jesus was teaching His disciples to take action!
From this incident, there are two important things in
order for us to experience unusual miracles, namely:
1. Obey without Doubt
When the Lord broke the loaves and gave them to His disciples to set
before the multitude, there was not even one disciple who protested or
questioned or made an argument against the Lord’s command. They didn’t say:
“Lord, are You kidding? You ask us to distribute this few loaves to the
multitude?” Instead, they obeyed without doubt and began to distribute the
loaves to the multitude, which numbered about 5,000 men, not counting women and
children.
2. Take Action by Faith
The disciples took action by faith; not based on logic. Because
logically, it was definitely impossible. When they began to take action by
faith, they saw the miracle took place with their own eyes.
The same thing also happened to the
servants that served at the wedding in Cana (John 2:6-9), logically they knew
that the water jars were filled with water, and when they drew some out and
took it to the master of the banquet, it was water, but when the master of the
banquet drank it, Jesus turned the water into the best wine.
Unusual miracles demand unusual act of
faith! The Lord desires us to act by faith based on our trust in Him, not on
human logic.
Action:
Don’t doubt and question God when HE asks
us to act by faith, because HE wants to perform unusual miracles in and through
our lives.
