“BECOME AS LITTLE CHILDREN”
EXPERIENCING UNUSUAL MIRACLES: Learning from the
Miracle of the Five Loaves and Two Fish
Part 1 of 3
“There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and
two small fish,
but what are they among so many?” (John 6:9, NKJV)
After the healing at the pool of
Bethesda, the LORD JESUS went over the Sea of Galilee and a great multitude
followed JESUS. The issue they faced later on was how could they feed such many
people?
Philip said
according to his logic that even two hundred denarii worth of bread would not
be sufficient, that every one of them may have a little. Even Andrew, Simon
Peter’s brother, underestimated the gift that the boy offered. But the Lord
turned what they took so lightly into an amazing tool to reveal His miracle.
There was no one else, but the boy, who had and gave away his lunch to JESUS.
In one occasion,
JESUS taught His disciples:
“And said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are
converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom
of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-4, NKJV)
There are 6
characteristics of little children that we ought to have as well:
1. Love to Cry
Crying meant here is not crying because you have problems or you are
being bullied, but because you feel the presence of God, you feel the touch of
God. Let’s examine ourselves, when was the last time we cried due to
experiencing the touch or visitation of God? Lest your heart be hardened due to
bitterness, disappointment, and sin. Repent immediately, ask for God’s
forgiveness and return to your first love.
2. Keep No Record of Wrongs
Little children often fight with their friends, but they are quick
to forgive and forget; and they can play with the friends that fight with them
again. What about us? Keep no record of wrongs, forgive and forget, just as we
have been forgiven by God and our wrongdoings have been forgotten by the Lord
(Matthew 6:12; Mark 11:25-26)
3. Do not Like to Lie
Little children are honest, sincere, and they say things for what they
are. Have we been honest in our words and actions?
4. Always want to be close to his parents
Little children feel safe and secure because they feel the love and
protection that their parents provide. Do we have the longing to always be
close to the Lord Jesus? (Psalms 62:1; 73:28)
5. Be led by their parents
Parents will surely lead and instruct their children, just as the
Lord desires to lead us. Do we want to be led by the Lord as His children? If
you want to be led by God, we should fix our eye on God (Psalms 123:2).
6. Trust his parents
To trust means to hold fast to something and have no doubt at all.
As His children, we must trust the Lord (Psalms 37:5, Romans 4:19-24).
Action:
Take off your
“mask”, put aside hypocrisy and live as children of God that have the
characteristics of little children that we have discussed in our sharing
tonight.
