THE BRIGHT SIDE OF SHAKING
Shaking is a
shocking, unplanned and unexpected event, circumstance or situation; whether it
is related to natural, economic, social and political condition in a form of
crisis, disaster, or conflict.
No one wants to
experience shaking. Shaking has become a scary thing that most people try to
avoid by praying to the best of their ability. But there is good news for us:
"No one can escape or avoid shaking". Shaking occurs without waiting
for our readiness.
Despite having a
devastating negative effect, God allows shaking to happen. Therefore, we must
be able to see the bright side of shaking. We must seek to see and understand
shaking from the point of view of God’s Word.
1.
Shaking happens so that the things that cannot be shaken may remain
(Hebrews 12:26-28)
And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised,
saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the
heaven.” This expression,
“Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken,
as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let
us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service
with reverence and awe.
Through the shaking that happens, many people will see an
indisputable reality that the Kingdom of God and the people of the Kingdom are
not impacted by the shaking that takes place. Through shaking, the LORD will be
glorified and this will serve as a ‘bridge’ for the believers to preach the
Good News and invite others into the Kingdom of God.
2.
Shaking causes the disciples to do the Great Commission.
Acts 8:1 AMP, Saul wholeheartedly approved of Stephen’s death. And
on that day a great and relentless persecution broke out against the church in
Jerusalem; and the believers were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea
and Samaria, except for the apostles.
What happened after the amazing outpouring of the Holy Spirit?
Harvest of souls, amazing miracles, and shaking (persecution).
Persecution that happened against the church of God caused them- who
had been staying in Jerusalem- to scatter throughout the regions of Judea and
Samaria while proclaiming the Gospel; fulfilling the last message of Jesus
Christ before He was taken up to heaven. “But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”
(Acts 1:8 NASB)
Sometimes shaking is necessary to make the people of God step out of
their comfort zone which keeps them from preaching the Gospel.
3.
Shaking results in harvest of souls
(Joel 2:30-32)
“And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood
and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned
into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and
awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass
that whoever calls on the
name of the Lord shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
there shall be deliverance, as the Lord has said, among the
remnant whom the Lord calls.”
Scary shaking causes many people to be confused, afraid, anxious,
worried, which eventually will cause them to call upon the name of the Lord.
For they will realize that the things that they have relied upon, honored and
worshipped cannot help and save them.
Be prepared for
a great shaking, be prepared for the greatest and last harvest of soul before
the second coming of Christ.
